Enter and View

Enter and View is a process where by certain individuals can be authorised to enter, view and observe health and social care activities being carried out – these individuals are referred to as ‘authorised representatives' or ‘Authorised Enter and View Volunteers'.

Before becoming an “Authorised LINk Representative” you will be required to undergo training, complete a CRB check and agree to the Sutton LINk Protocols.

Sutton LINk will be able to use the information taken from the visits and produce reports to give an overall picture of services being provided for the local community.

The reports will detail what is being done really well, show examples of good practice, and whether and how the needs and preferences of the community are being met. It will also help in documenting recommendations for improvement where things are not so good, or there are gaps in provision.

Depending on the findings Sutton LINk can send their findings to the Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee (OSC) and the Care Quality Commission.

Overview and Scrutiny Committees carry out the Council's scrutiny function. The Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee are responsible for scrutinising matters relating to the health. This Committee can also make recommendations to health bodies or other relevant authorities.

The Care Quality Commission( CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The CQC regulate care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations and aim to make sure better care is provided for everyone - in hospitals, care homes and people's own homes.

I have worked for many years in hospitals and nursing homes and believe that everyone is entitled to excellent care and to be cared for in a way that ensures they can retain their independence , dignity and self respect. I was a trained informal assessor working for Age Concern and in this role I accompanied inspectors on their visits to homes in the borough. I see the work of the Enter and View team as supporting both providers and users of services in promoting services that meet the needs of the local community
