People who use health and social care services, their carers and the general public have expectations about the experience they want to have of those services and want the opportunity to express their views as to whether their expectations are being met.Enter and View is a process where a LINk can enter health and social care premises to observe and assess the nature and quality of these services and obtain the views of people using those services.
Volunteers who carry out these visits complete a process to become an ‘authorised representatives' and then undertake additional training to enable them to be authorised to ‘Enter and View. All volunteers who carry out visits to health and social care settings are required to provide references, complete a CRB and induction process and undertake training including Safeguarding.
Information gained from an Enter and view visit is used by LINk to produce a report which will detail what is being done really well, show examples of good practice, and whether and how the needs and preferences of the community are being met. It will also help in documenting recommendations for improvement where things are not so good, or identifying gaps in provision.
Depending on the findings Sutton LINk can send their findings to the Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee (OSC) and the Care Quality Commission.
Overview and Scrutiny Committees carry out the Council's scrutiny function. The Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee are responsible for scrutinising matters relating to the health. This Committee can also make recommendations to health bodies or other relevant authorities.
The Care Quality Commission( CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The CQC regulate care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations and aim to make sure better care is provided for everyone - in hospitals, care homes and people's own homes.
